Glacier Lodge, nestled at 8,000 feet on Big Pine Creek, is gateway to some of the best hiking, fishing, and climbing in the country. Silence. It's the first thing you hear after you take a deep breath of mountain air, filling your lungs deeply with the healthy pine scent and letting it out slowly. You can hear the sweet breeze through the pine trees and feel it's coolness on your bare skin. You see into forever and the mountains soar toward the bluest blue sky you've ever seen. With over a hundred thousand acres of wilderness terrain to explore, the seasonal colors of Spring, Summer and Autumn are always bursting at the seams. The John Muir Trail, the Palisades Glacier (the most southern glacier in the United States) and Temple Crag are all a short hike away.Wilderness & Guided ToursPrivate guided tours are available from experienced, world-class mountain climbers such as John Fischer and Todd Vogel. Discover for yourself the hidden and challenging wonders of the Sierra Nevada Range. If you prefer, the Glacier Pack train with their team of horses and mules can take you and your party into the depths of the Eastern Sierras. There are activities for everyone to enjoy!
Escape the daily grind!Glacier Lodge, a historic mountain retreat originally built in 1917, burned down a few years ago, but rustic mountain cabins are still open and offer modest accommodations in the midst of the untamed outdoors.
